The Feast of Saint Stephen – Deacon and Martyr
Feast Day: December 26

We commemorate Saint Stephen today, the first martyr of the Christian Church and one of the first deacons. Chosen to minister to the early church, Stephen was full of faith and the Holy Spirit and performed great miracles in the midst of them (Acts 6:8).
Stephen’s persistence in proclaiming Christ despite persecution is still a compelling story of perseverance and forgiveness. When he was executed, he offered prayers to his enemies: “Lord, forgive them this sin” (Acts 7:60).
Today, let’s be reminded that the Lord commands us to serve modestly, share the Gospel boldly, and to exhibit the love of Christ even when we suffer.
Prayer:
Lord, may we, like Saint Stephen, be faithful in service and steadfast in our witness to You. Grant us the grace to forgive as he did, that we may share in the glory of Your kingdom. Amen.
Blessed Feast of Saint Stephen!
